I lift five days a week. Looking clean matters to me — not for anyone else, just because it's part of how I take care of myself. So I kept my chest shaved. Every time, same story: smooth for maybe a day, then by day two the itch started. By day three I had bumps and that flat dark shadow that made it look like I hadn't even bothered.

I went through every razor on the market. I tried post-shave balms, exfoliating before, shaving with the grain. Nothing held. The itch always came back. I genuinely thought I just had difficult skin — that this was the price of grooming and I had to live with it.

Then someone broke down exactly what a razor blade does at a microscopic level. And the moment I understood it, I was angry — because it meant every single shave had been guaranteeing the itch and the bumps would come back. The blade wasn't fixing the problem. It was building it in from the start.
